Viva a Democracia | Long Live Democracy

Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos e RTP / 2024

Portugal celebrates 50 years of life in Democracy – a political system that has profoundly transformed the country. The documentary “Long Live Democracy – 50 Years and the Future” invites us on a journey through the progress made in civil, political, and social rights over the past decades, while also confronting the challenges that remain on this ongoing path.
Freedom, Equality, Choice, and Participation are the four guiding principles of this reflection, built upon the insights of seven experts from diverse fields and the perspectives of twelve citizens.
It bears repeating that Democracy stands for freedom, equal opportunities, social justice, and the future.
From achievements to challenges, how do we see our Democracy today – and what do we hope for tomorrow?
